History
Maheshwari sarees have been in trend for a long time and are still one of the most popular sarees in India and international markets. The origin of the in-demand Maheshwari sarees dates long back to the early 18th century when the Malwa region (now Indore) had Devi AhilyaBai Holkar – the queen of Malwa
As per our ancestors, Queen Ahilyabai called for craftsmen from all over Surat and Malwa region to design unique 9-Yard sarees and presented these crafts as gifts to her royal guests and relatives. Later, Sarees became known as the famous Maheshwari Sarees. Ladies from royal families wore these premium sarees as a token of status and class.
